I congratulate you with the feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin, the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Day of the Defender of Ukraine.
The Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary was established in Russia in the second half of the XII century. The reason for the celebration was the miracle of the Lord in 910, the description of which is preserved in the life of St. Andrew of Constantinople. It tells of an event when St. Andrew and Epiphanius, a disciple of the saint, prayed in the temple. Suddenly the vault of the temple opened above them, after which St. Andrew saw the Blessed Virgin. She began to pray to God for Christians with tears and was in prayer for a long time. Then she approached the Throne and removed the veil from her head, stretching it over the people who were praying in the temple, protecting them from all troubles. This event helped the Greeks defeat the Saracens, and the holiday became one of the main for Christians in Russia.
The Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks is a symbol of courage, devotion, dignity and honor. On this day, we greet and thank those who defended, are defending and will defend our Motherland. Each of those whose life’s work has become the defense of our native country, deserves the warmest, sincere words of gratitude for their work. At all times in Ukraine, people have been invariably respected, for whom the honor of the uniform was not just high words. We, Ukrainians, can rightly be proud of the defenders of our Motherland, professionals, those who every minute stand guard over our security, guard over the peaceful life of our children.
On this day, we pay tribute to the soldiers who fought for the homeland with weapons in their hands and to all the men who are always ready to defend the country, who honorably defend the borders of Ukraine and strengthen its defense capabilities.
